Schutzhund, means guard dog and is a German word. Schutzhund is also a special type of examination developed to test the behavior, breeding suitability of German Shepherd dogs. Over time, it became an international sporting event attended by German Shepherd dogs and their trainers.
German Shepherd dogs, developed for the Schutzhund test, are generally used for a number of study purposes (police dog, trail riding, personal protection, etc.). Dogs need to have the strength and ability to withstand this training process.
After training, the dogs undergo the Shutzhund test. After the Shutzhund test, the abilities of the dog are included in their license. Shutzhund test is applied in 3 different areas. They are respectively fields of trail riding, obedience and protection.
The stages of the test are designed to measure the dog's instinctive reactions and abilities. Courage, endurance and desire to work are among the most important features for dogs to pass this test.
German Shepherd dogs are expected to have these characteristics due to the fact that they are preferred very often in the business environment. It should also be a good family dog for dogs to successfully pass the Schutzhund test and be able to communicate well with people.
The training process for the Shutzhund test is an important sport for both the dog and the trainer. The bond between dog and dog trainer is very strong. Shutzhund training dogs who are successful in field and test communicate with people in a quality way and their loyalty to obedience is proven.
IPO – Schutzhund Test; IZ-Slide(Part A)
Two different items along a 300-step track from the starting point, two different 90-degree corner tracks are left. And wait 20 minutes after the trail is left.
Before the dog comes to the exit point, the dog and its own name tell the referee and make the test record. The dog begins to follow the trail from the starting area. It is forbidden to react positively or negatively to the dog by the owner. And there should be a minimum distance of 10 meters between the dog and the owner.
If the scoring is successful, 80 points, if two items are found, then 20 more points are taken. The highest score is 100 points.
IPO – Schutzhund Test OBEDIENCE(Part B)
A minimum of 50 steps forward from the exit point is shown leash-free walking, the dog should walk at the left knee alignment energetically and eagerly focused on the owner. He then walks 10 steps to the side where he came from.
Immediately after the minimum 10 shows at least 15 slow walks after a maximum of 10 to 15 steps fast walking and continues with normal walking 10 steps after the right or left turn shows 15 after the step, he makes a right or left turn again, and after 20 steps, he makes a reverse turn again, and after 10 steps, the owner stops, and the dog is commandlessly standing next to the owner's left side.After making a left or right turn after 10 steps of normal walking, the group enters at least once and must show right and left turns around the people (8 should draw) and once sit in the group.
Then, starting from the starting point and after a minimum of 15 steps of normal walking, sit by commanding the dog to sit, while the owner goes 30 steps forward and turns the dog in the right direction.
When the referee gives a sign, he comes back to his dog and takes a 10-step normal walk with his dog. Then he commands the dog to go to bed and goes 30 steps forward without stopping, looks at the dog and waits, and when the referee points, he shouts his dog by name or command,the dog quickly and eagerly stands in front of the owner and waits in a sit position, the dog passes to the left side of the owner on the command of the owner and sits down.
The next stage is Aport, that is, to allow the owner to bring 1000 grams of dumbbells over a 650-gram barrier.The dog with a drop 20 meters forward must take it on the command and bring it to the owner. During this time, the dog should keep the dambel in his mouth until the command of the owner. After the command, the dog must sit on the left side of the owner by giving the dambel again. After that, it should be applied at 1 meter obstacle to 1.80 meter obstacle and go to the exit area. In the moving stage, 50 meters of running is performed by giving the forward command. With the yacht command, the dog should lie down with the owner.
By changing the yacht position with the sit command, the obedience part is completed and the yacht wait command is made where the referee shows. Until the second dog completes the obedience section, the yacht should be commanded and the back should wait for the dog.
After completing the obedience section in two dogs, both dog owners must inform the referee that they have been completed.
A total of at least 70 and a maximum of 100 points must be obtained.
IPO – Schutzhund Test PROTECTION (Part C)
It replaces the dog and owner from the line in the middle of the 6 different hiding points required in the protection test. With the forward command, the dog heads to the fifth hiding spot, the owner calls the dog after searching for the hiding point, and when the dog comes next to him, the owner is guided to the 6th hiding point by the forward command for the second time. Without interrupting the dog speed, it reaches its sixth hiding point with the same commands.
At this point Helfer-Assistant is waiting. When the dog comes here, he must inform the owner that he has found it by barking. Meanwhile, the owner walks when the dog reaches the fourth area and waits where the dog is until the referee's mark when the dog starts barking. The dog should continue to bark and wait next to the helper. The owner approaches the dog by 5 steps and, with the permission of the referee, calls the dog or lets the dog take the position by going next to him.
Tells the helper to go out and wait until the predetermined waiting point, after receiving the auxiliary position, the owner gives command to the yacht Helfer approaches five steps to the left of the dog and waits at the point of hiding to look for the point of concealment, meanwhile the assistant on the mark of the referee is moved to escape, to, the dog immediately goes from the yacht position to the attack and prevents the assistant from escaping by biting from his armrest.
After the first drop command, the second attack is applied correctly to the dog with the help (Helfer) stick, twice stops the attack after hitting the shoulder or back area and the dog with the drop command given by the owner he leaves but again he must be carefully watching the helper. The owner is given the right to give a leave command 3 times. With the permission of the referee, the owner approaches the dog and the dog is provided to take positions for the long attack without taking the helper stick.
In the second part, the dog runs from the owner 50 meters away to the middle of the field and then runs with the owner to the dog to meet the helper to attack.
The dog quickly runs to the helper, and despite the helper's blocking behavior, it must bite the sleeves and take the helper under control. At this moment of struggle, the assistant must apply pressure to the dog. When the assistant stops the defense, the owner must give the remote command. At this time, you can say leave 3 times and in the 3rd command, you can approach no more than 5 steps. However, the dog stops attacking and biting, but the dog's attention should be on the helper.
With the permission of the referee, the owner comes to the dog and takes the stick of the helper and informs the referee that the task has been completed. Delivers the stick to the referee.
